5 Gaon Andar | Sustainable Food | 50 Mile Menu

पांच गाँव अंदर/ Paanch Gaon Andar Menu

Our Panch Gaon Andar menu (dishes and food from a radius of five villages) has been prepared, to keep the essence of local flavours alive. Inspired by the 50 mile menu, this menu sources and also includes food that is grown and eaten in the five villages, which exist around the radius of our lodges.

We reduce miles and transport costs by sourcing food ingredients from local farmers, and buying from local markets as much as possible. This supports and helps them, while ensuring we stay true to our sustainable living practises.

We delight in offering our guests a taste of local, and regional flavours with our Paanch Gaon Andar menu. And like many of our other menus, this menu also helps us cut back on our carbon foot print drastically.

Paanch Gaon Andar is served to our cherished guests at least once during the course of their stay. It is prepared from locally gathered, fresh regional produce; intended to delight their taste buds. It takes our guests on a nourishing food experience; of quaint rural flavours and the food the villagers eat during different seasons. Therefore, it includes mostly seasonal produce, grown in that specific time of the year.

Some of the ingredients are also freshly plucked from our organic kitchen garden.

The Paanch Gaon Andar platter is served in earthen tableware, over a plating of banana leaf. The menu is constantly innovated, depending on the fresh seasonal harvests.

Here’s Pench Tree Lodge’s, Paanch Gaon Andar menu that Pugdundee Safari brings during the misty winters of 2022. The platter continues to be innovated upon, based on the produce of the day.
