The jungles in the Central Highlands are bustling with activity, so are our lodges at Pugdundee Safaris. We can\u2019t seem to contain our excitement as we bring to you this Summer Special quarterly newsletter. One that is brimming with news that we are thrilled to share with you, our dear patrons and well wishers.<\/p>\n\n

Denwa Backwater Escape\u00a0<\/strong>at Satpura won the prestigious\u00a0Best Wildlife Lodge Award<\/strong>\u00a0at the\u00a0Outlook Traveller Boutique Awards 2018.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Kings Lodge & Treehouse Hideaway<\/strong>, Bandhavgarh and\u00a0Kanha Earth Lodge<\/strong>, Kanha have received the\u00a0highest PUG eco-rating of\u00a0 \u201cOutstanding\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>in the most recent audit by TOFT (Travel Operators for Tigers). Outstanding rating is awarded to accommodation providers which are exemplary industry leaders.<\/p>\n\n

They make sustainable development and environmental and socio-cultural issues their priority.\u00a0 They lead with examples and become case studies for others to follow.<\/p>\n\n

Denwa Backwater Escape<\/strong>, Satpura has received the\u00a0PUG eco-rating of\u00a0 \u201cQuality\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>in the TOFT audit. Though considered good, we believe there is more work for us to do here.<\/p>\n\n

All these lodges focus on providing enhanced nature experiences that have minimal impact on the environment.<\/p>\n\n

A Flaming Forest ?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

Flame of the Forest or the Palash flowers have ignited a conflagration of colours in jungles this season. These stunning red and orange flowers bloom as winter hangs its boots, welcoming the summers with much fanfare.<\/p>\n\n


Migrant\u00a0Elephants in Bandhavgarh<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n
\"Migrant<\/figure>\n\n

Recently a majestic herd of elephants made their way to the forests of Bandhavgarh. Sources claim that they have travelled almost 1500 kms, all the way from Orissa via Chattisgarh. The herd of over twenty elephants, also includes a tusker and baby elephants.<\/p>\n\n

Our naturalists believe that these pachyderms might not survive the onslaught of summers in the Central Highlands and may start their journey backwards<\/p>\n\n


The Stork Visits the Queen of Pench<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n

Collarwali, or the Queen of Pench, the celebrity tigress, known in the jungle circles for giving birth to the highest number of litters in the wild, was spotted with her new born brood. A very special sighting to begin our year with.<\/p>\n\n


Tiger-Porcupine Duel<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

This tiger apparently got into a duel with a porcupine. Notice the aftermath? A quill attached to its neck, as it gathers a breather post the combat.<\/p>\n\n


Our Trap Cameras Are On the Roll<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n

Four Horned Antelope and Small Indian Civet <\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Our night cameras or trap camera at King\u2019s Lodge, Bandhavgarh have caught quite a few jungle inhabitants on the romp. Some of these include the common palm civet and small Indian civets, foxes, wild boars and porcupines, to name a few.<\/p>\n\n

In Pench, these cameras facilitated very rare and unique sightings of the four-horned antelope, the honey badger and leopard.<\/p>\n\n

We are happy to report that recently we installed high-resolution cameras for enhanced and improved quality of monitoring.<\/p>\n\n


Waghoba Eco Lodge, Tadoba<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n

Our Waghoba Eco lodge, Tadoba is poised to set new standards in eco-friendly construction and is all set to be launched by October 2020.<\/p>\n\n

This lodge is being made of specialised handmade Adobe bricks and Guna Vault roofs, a unique path-breaking endeavour in eco-construction.<\/p>\n\n
