The Conservation Cell of the Pugdundee Safaris was founded in 2009 with the sole mission of conserving areas that lay in between 5 important National Parks in Madhya Pradesh (Panna, Bandhavgarh, Kanha, Pench and Satpura-Bori). These areas are Gaps that disconnect what other wise would have been a contiguous wild landscape that is vital for movement of animals. Because of the disconnected nature of the landscape and the resulting human disturbance in the area, vital populations of species like the Tigers, Gaur and Blackbuck have suffered severely and their dwindled populations are now restricted to a few isolated protected areas.
The Conservation Cell is the Pugdundee Safaris initiative to understand and put into action initiatives that will help in the creation of connectivity between various national parks. We strongly believe that it is important to have good understanding and friendly relationships with all stakeholders (State Forest Departments, Local villagers, Local and regional and international developmental organisations, visitors and other tourist lodges).
As a key player in the regional wildlife tourism industry we have the platform, local and regional contacts, strategic thinking and have brought together experts in wildlife and rural development thus setting new standards and have become a influential force in action oriented problem solving to local issues.
Through this approach we wish to ensure connectivity of wild landscapes, find solutions to reduce impact of pressure on people by wildlife and people on wildlife and find ways to support the locals’ way of life.
Help us to keep this momentum going as we continue on our mission by supporting small local enterprise development, involve the locals in conservation issues, develop a pool of talent and harness local knowledge to address local wildlife issues, educating and creating awareness to the decision makers and working through networks of NGO’s, experts and institutions to find solutions to issues thus ensuring survival and connectivity of wild areas in Central India.
