The conservation Cell of the Pugdundee Safaris has become a reality in 2009. We constituted the Cell and decided on the direction of the work we plan to undertake in March 2009 (for details check Pugdundee Safaris Conservation Overview).
As a first step we intend to put into action elements of conservation and Eco-friendly attitude into the frame work of our own organisation. This we will start by training our own staff and administration on the need to conserve wild landscapes.

Naturalist Training GroupParallel to the above we will start addressing the issues of habitat connectivity by local level surveys, scientific investigations and through discussions with people. Our panel of scientific and financial team of experts and advisers will help find appropriate ways to address some of the current problems we have identified.

For example: Areas outside the boundaries of the national parks are not suitable for many species of wildlife because of loss of habitat and poaching by locals and outsiders. We will start work in September trying to understand the best sustainable way to create suitable habitat in and through farmlands so that certain species can use these areas to move or even live. Once we identify what is adequate for the animals and what type of impact the new habitat will have on the farmers we will start working with farmers to find ways (includes incentives) to leave a patch of their property for animals to use and move. We will also try and influence the local governments for a policy change so that it may suit wildlife and farmers. Similarly we will start working on sustainable solutions for other existing problems and start action.
